Lang Shining (1688-1766), a native of Milan, Italy, served as court painter in the Kang, Yong and Qian dynasties. He is good at flowers and birds, dogs and horses, and his pen is delicate, colorful and accurate The Painting of Ten Steed Dogs depicts the European purebred hounds that accompanied Emperor Qianlong’s hunting in the Southern Garden or paddock.
