    On the small hand roll, the inscription in regular script on the outside of the roll: “Royal Ink Plum”. Introducing the four regular script words “Huaxin begets spring”, this picture is a broken plum flower painted by Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty in the thirty third year of Qianlong’s reign (1768). In the blank background, the plum flower is simply drawn in bud and in full bloom, which really conveys the spring news brought by a blooming plum flower in the silence of dormant vitality in winter.
