This octagonal melon shaped box was originally named “Japanese melon shaped box” in the account book. The small round bottom is slightly inward concave, and is divided into a box cover and a box body from the waist. The whole vessel is first carved with boxwood, and then pasted with bamboo yellow pieces on the surface of the vessel. The triangular pattern is carved on the bamboo yellow pieces, and the decorative patterns are full of the vessel surface. The covered bamboo yellow pieces are pasted with melon stems, leaves and vines carved from boxwood, and decorated with bamboo yellow pieces. The slightly concave small round bottom is also decorated with round small bamboo yellow pieces. The inner wall of the whole device is covered with gold foil.
