According to the inscription, Dong Qichang wrote Ni Zan’s “Donggang Thatched Cottage” in the summer of the second year of Chongzhen (1629), and copied the original title of Ni Zan and Zhang Yu on the painting. When studying Ni Zan’s early paintings, they also cited this as a supporting evidence. However, the ink used in this role is different from Dong Qichang’s general works, which is suspected to be caused by copying. In the lower right corner of the canvas, there is the seal of Congjian (1574-1648).
