- Description:
Dong Qichang borrowed Mi Fu’s work from Tang Xiaochun in April of the 17th year of Wanli (1589), and wrote this copy temporarily. He had just participated in the palace examination and won the second place and first place. Tang Xiaochun is the grandson of Tang Shunzhi (1507-1560), and is the same as Dong Qichang. This volume of stippling is exquisite and beautiful, and the knot is slender. Although it is Lin Mi Fu’s “Thousand Character Essay”, the knot is already his own style. Ten years later, the inscription and postscript also think that his handwriting has not improved. In the postscript, it is particularly mentioned that Mi Fu’s original style of writing, which does not make a solid pen and does not stop writing, has become the basic argument of Dong Qichang’s later discussion on calligraphy. Mi Shu’s emphasis on the change of virtual and real strokes has also become an important expression of his calligraphy.
