Xiang Shengmo (1597-1658), the grandson of Xiang Yuanbian, was born in Jiaxing. Calligraphy and painting, landscape learning Wen Zhengming, after the Song and Yuan Dynasty painting style to take new ideas. In addition to the use of pen, the painting pays equal attention to ink. The distant mountains and the middle slope banks are painted with ink, and the towering pine tree trunks in the foreground are also painted with fine ink as light and shadow. The painter wrote his own picture by using Zhao Mengfu’s poem “Crossing the flowing water on a hundred beaches, and the pine wind is heard in a myriad of valleys”. Both the side and the opposite pictures were written at the invitation of Zhou Lianggong.
