    Dong Qichang (1555-1636), born in Huating, Jiangsu, has the name Xuanzai and the name Sibai. In the seventeenth year of Wanli (1589), he was a scholar, and was the official minister of the Ministry of Rites. His posthumous title was Wen Min. Genius is meaningful, good at calligraphy and painting, rich in collection, and especially refined in appreciation. Copy the book until you forget to sleep. His calligraphy combines the calligraphic styles of Jin, Tang, Song and Yuan dynasties. He takes the two kings as his ancestors, and he also owes much to Yan Zhenqing, Mi Fu and Yang Ning.
