Description:
The celadon bottle is made of jade pot spring type bottle. The outer wall is decorated with flowers. The neck is decorated with a circle of banana leaf patterns, a circle of ripples, and a circle of curly grass patterns. The abdomen is decorated with a circle of lotus flowers. The foot circle is decorated with a circle of ripples. The foot tip is round without glaze. There are a number of works unearthed at the Fengdongyan Kiln site of Longquan Kiln, which are of fine texture, thick texture and thick glaze, with regular foot trimming and glaze scraping marks, fine carving marks and decorative patterns. Their features are similar to those of this jade pot spring vase. In the 26th year of Hongwu’s reign (1393), it was stipulated that “anyone who burns utensils and other articles for use needs to determine the sample preparation and calculate the artificial materials. If there is a large number, the craftsmen should go to Beijing to set up kilns for work, or if there is a small number, they should move to other places for burning.” It can be seen that in the early Ming Dynasty, Jingdezhen Kiln and Longquan Kiln jointly undertook the task of making official tools.
