- Description:
In the foreground of the painting, the monk Dai Li walks on his staff and will enter the forest temple; In the middle view, there is a scholar across the bridge, who may be Wen Biren, who has been in the Langxi Mountain for years; The prospect seems to emerge with the clouds, and the beautiful mountains standing in the sky should be the grand scene that the author pursues. This painting was originally painted in the Jiazi year of Jiajing (1564). Six years later, Wen Boren wrote a poem on the top right of the screen. The painting title “Pine Ridge Bamboo Dock” is derived from the verse in the poem. Although this work is rather extensive, it still maintains Wen Beren’s preference for arranging the details in the painting. It is similar to the fan of Li Wanting to Return to Pangu in this exhibition, and belongs to Wen Beren’s masterpiece of late Wang Meng style.
