  • Description:
On the bank of the slope, the scribes and children were cooking tea under the twin trees, calm and relaxed. The layout of this painting is simple, and it seems that it is not paid much attention. It may be a social work, but the brushwork still shows its exquisite skill. In addition to the inscription on the picture, there is another poem: “After a long separation, I felt bitter. I inherited the elegance of the past, but I didn’t get anything in return. I wrote a little poem and drew a lot of pictures. I saw my feelings.” It is a special arrangement to put the words on the letters into the title. This painting was painted in Bingxu (1526), Jiajing, when Shizong (1507-1567) intended to posthumously confer the title of his father, the emperor. Most of the officials said that they were not polite, said frankly that they were disobedient to the emperor, and received a stick in the court. Although Wen Zhengming escaped from his job because of his arm injury, he eventually resigned and returned home.
