Xia Chang (1388-1470), known as Zhongzhao, was born in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province. In the 13th year of Yongle’s reign (1415), he became a scholar and was an official in Taichang Temple. He is good at regular script and was once the book of Emperor Yongle. Learning from Wang Fu (1362-1416), he observed painted bamboo carefully and became famous abroad.
