- Description:
This is a picture of a legendary figure of Taoism. He holds a big peach in his hand and follows the elk. He looks up at the bat. White deer are immortal beasts, often accompanied by immortals; “Bat” and “fu” are homophones, symbolizing “fu shou ji xiang”. The “Zhe School” painters in the Ming Dynasty liked to work on folk auspicious themes. This painting should be a auspicious birthday celebration. The turning line of the pattern is powerful, and the pen is smooth and simple. It was originally intended to be painted by Shang Xi (15th century AD), a court painter during Xuande’s reign. However, the style of painting is different and should be painted after the 15th century.
