- Description:
Wen Zhengming (1470-1559) was the most influential painter of the Wu School in the 16th century. This is a folding fan that was popular in Suzhou in the 16th century. Now it is mounted in a book. The painting depicts Su Shi and his friends swimming under the Red Cliff. In particular, the painter used short strokes to describe a soft mountain with soft soil. He did not emphasize the towering and precipitous momentum of the Red Cliff, and added waterfalls on the mountain wall. With the swaying pine trees on the top of the mountain and the lush trees at the foot of the mountain, he presented a scene of Jiangnan.
