  It is said that the “West Garden Gathering” was a grand gathering held by scholars in the Northern Song Dynasty at the West Garden of Emperor Shen’s Mansion. The participants included 15 literary celebrities such as Su Shi, Li Gonglin and Mi Fu. It is generally said that Li Gonglin drew pictures and Mi Fu wrote notes. However, the text of “Xiyuan Yaji Pictorial Notes” did not appear until the Ming Dynasty, so both the event and the text should be questionable. Although this painting is said to have been painted by Qiu Ying, its style is different, and it should belong to the production of Suzhou film. Qianlong attached great importance to this work, and his imperial pen “won the appreciation” in the Shitang, and the imperial title “The people in Li’s paintings must be colored at the bottom to obtain the shape and sign”. This is because “Li Bo’s prescription, General Tang Xiaoli, is a colored spring stone” is stated in the “Atlas of the Western Garden Collection”, but Qianlong believed that if you want to pursue “shape and sign”, why do you need to “color”, and line drawing can be competent.
