Comments:From Li Bao Ping “According to Da Ming Huidian [The Collected Statues of the Ming Dynasty] of 1503 CE (juan 194, the section on kilns and ceramics), the royal court had a total of 51850 jars manufactured annually at kilns of Jun-zhou [Prefecture], Ci-zhou and Quyang County (where the Ding ware kilns of the Song-Jin period were situated). These jars were of five sizes and these include Wine Urns, Ten-Bottle Jars, Seven-Bottle Jars, Five-Bottle Jars, and Wine Bottles 酒缸,十瓶坛,七瓶坛,五瓶坛,酒瓶. This indicates that there were some sort of standarisation in the size of ceramic liquor containers in Ming and probably other periods as well, and the Larze Size Jar in the inscription of the present jar may be part of this system”.
