Description:
A man’s waistcoat / sleeveless jacket; knee-length. Ground made from mushroom coloured tabby woollen cloth with nap. Centre front opening (panels do not meet); wide stand-up collar; long armholes [46 cms]. Two wide revers, almost full length of front, made from polychrome silk brocaded cloth (cloud and dragon motifs). (Also used to line collar.) Held in place at top with green silk macramé braid and round metal button. Fastening across chest, with button on inside. Cream and blue floral brocaded lining (silk ground, patterning of gold leaf on paper). Two epaulettes made of red tabby wool cloth, cream and green silk yarn and braided cord. Three petalled floral motif within circle on upper back (appliquéd white wool cloth).
