Description:
Vase ( with stand), porcelain, Hong xian type. The fine enamelled overglaze decoration of ladies in a landscape is typical of these wares. A couplet on the reverse reads”They go to Hangzhou and do not return, for whom do the blossoms on the river bank flower?”. The distinction of genuine Hong xian porcelain of 1916 from later copies is much debated. Mark on base: ‘Hong xian nian zhi’.
