Description:
Porcelain vase with elephant-head handles and ‘fahua’-palette decoration. This baluster vase has gently sloping shoulders, an out-turned foot and a tall neck which flares out at the mouth. Attached on either side at the neck are handles in the forms of elephants’ heads with their trunks turned up at the ends, glazed aubergine. Both sides show the same design of chrysanthemums flowering on long stems emanating from the base with a butterfly and a bee flying above. These motifs are applied in low relief and are enamelled in the ‘fahua’ palette with turquoise, aubergine, white and green enamels. The base and inside are glazed yellow.
