Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Five jars and covers with this type of scroll work around the body and with relating spiralling scroll work around the foot have been excavated in Dongwan, Guangdong province, in the tomb of the long-lived Luo Hengxin (1376-1457) and of his wife Mme Liu; they were buried together in 1459, the third year of Tianshun. These vases are based on the form of a contemporary bronze altar vase and were probably made in a set with an incense burner. Another vase of this type with a broken neck is in the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute.
