Porcelain gourd vase with rectangular lower bulb, and rounded upper bulb with tapering neck. The vase has green enamel over a white felspathic glaze, white glazed base. There are traces of gilt peony scrolls on the upper and lower sections.

This decorative technique is known by the Japanese term 金襴手 (kinrande ‘gold brocade style’). The gold wears away from the porcelain which is why so much of the detail is missing.
