Description:
Earthenware ‘goutou’ tile terminal with moulded decoration, green and yellow glazes. This circular ‘goutou’ tile has a relief-moulded lotus flower in the centre, surrounded by green glazed curling foliage and a border 2 cm wide. It is damaged, but is extensively restored along the lower edge and it is missing its convex section. This shape of tile was placed at the edge of a roof to ornament the ends of the overlapping semi-circular roof tiles.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:It was probably made for the ‘Da Bao’en si’, Nanjing. Construction of the ‘Da Bao’en si’ temple complex began in the Yongle reign in 1412 and was completed in the Xuande era in 1431.
