Comments:This archer’s ring with a large aperture slopes towards a rounded point in the front end and the underside gently scooped and with undulating ridges. Extending from either side of the base of the ring are two decorative and asymmetrical curling spurs. See Rawson 1995, p.288, cat.no.20.2. Like 275 [2014,AsiaLoan,1.11], this carefully worked and polished piece has an asymmetrical hole, widening from top to bottom, small steps to its angular back, and a small lump or extension at the front. On the side and the rear, small scrolling spurs make an elaborate and elegant profile. These coiled and curved extensions probably inspired the jade carvers to develop the shape as an ornamental pendant rather than to make it simply a utilitarian ring. The ring is probably of similar or slightly later in date than 275 [2014,AsiaLoan,1.11].
