Description:
Fragments (a) and (b) are of ‘Liao samite’, weft-faced twill on both sides, with roundels of four geese flying around a blue circle, interspersed with quatrefoils. The pattern repeat is 7.4 cm in the warp direction and 9 cm in the weft direction. The pattern of four wild geese flying face to face was very popular in the Liao dynasty. Weave structures: Inner warp: silk, untwisted, paired, pale red, 36 ends/cm; Binding warp: silk, untwisted, paired, pale red, 36 ends/cm; Weft: silk, untwisted, red for the ground, white, yellow and blue for the pattern, 20 passes/cm. Weave structure: 1/2Z compound twill weft-faced on both sides. 遼式斜紋緯錦殘片，共兩塊（MAS.920.a-b.），其圖案爲四隻大雁圍繞一藍色環形圖案飛翔，各組飛雁之間以十字賓花裝飾，圖案經向循環爲7.4cm，緯向爲9.0cm。此類四雁相對而飛的圖案在遼代十分流行。 組織結構： a-b. 紅地飛雁紋錦 經線：明經：絲，無撚，雙根排列，淡紅色，36根/cm；夾經：絲，無撚，雙根排列，淡紅色，36根/cm；緯線：絲，無撚，紅、黃、白、藍色，20副/cm；組織：1/2Z向斜紋遼式緯重組織。
