Description:
This fragment is similar to jin silks of the early Tang, with the pattern in brown, green and white on alternate stripes of beige and yellow. The pattern comprises pearl roundels linked in units of four. Each roundel consists of eight pearls enclosing paired birds, and there are small rosettes between the roundels. This pattern belongs to a distinct group, with a number of variations: for example, with pearl roundels enclosing drinking horses linked in units of four found at Astana, and small pearl roundels enclosing paired phoenixes, one found at Astana, also at Reshui, Dulan (Qinghai). Weave structures: Warp: silk, untwisted, beige, dark brown, light brown and green; Inner Weft: silk, untwisted, single, light brown; Binding weft: silk, untwisted, single, light brown. Weave structure: 2/1 weft faced compound twill. 此件斜紋經錦明顯帶有早期織錦的特點，在米色和黃色交替的色條地上顯示褐、綠、白三種色彩的圖案。圖案是聯珠小團窠紋，每窠只有八珠。團窠之內是對鳥，鳥體很小。團窠之間用小朵花相連，呈簇四骨架排列。這是極爲典型的早期簇四團窠形式，與新疆吐魯番阿斯塔那出土簇四聯珠飲水馬錦的骨架基本一致，與阿斯塔那及青海都蘭熱水等地出土的小窠聯珠對鳳錦中的對鳳紋樣十分相似。 組織結構： 經綫：絲，無拈，米、褐、棕、綠色；明經：緯綫：明緯：絲，無拈，單根排列，淺棕色；緯綫：絲，無拈，單根排列，淺棕色；組織：2/1斜紋經重組織。
