Description:
This rectangular fragment is embroidered with colourful silk threads on 4-end complex gauze in pale red, which in turn is backed with plain woven silk, also in pale red. The embroidery, in satin stitch, is worked through both the gauze and the backing. Flowers form the main motif; there is also the head of a deer at the bottom and a tail of an animal (perhaps a dragon) at the top. Most of the gauze has disintegrated, and the only remains are those around the deer’s antlers. Weave structures: a. 4-end complex gauze in pale red colour Warp: silk, untwisted, single, pale red; Weft: silk, untwisted, single, pale red. Weave structure: 4-end complex gauze b. Silk plain weave in pale red colour Warp: silk, untwisted, single, pale red, 47 ends/cm; Weft: silk, untwisted, single, pale red, 34 lats/cm. Weave structure: 1/1 plain weave. Embroidery: Threads: silk, Z twisted; Colour: blue, dark blue, light blue, white, black, red, yellow, green, purple, light yellowish green etc. Stitch: satin stitch, split stitch and long and short stitch. 長方形繡片。繡地兩層，淡紅色四經絞素羅背襯以淡紅色絹，史料上稱爲“羅表絹襯”，我們稱其爲羅地襯絹繡，但從針法來看則屬於平針繡。現在無刺繡部分的羅織物大都已不見，只在鹿角等處保留些許。繡片以各色絲線繡出圖案，殘留部分的主體紋樣爲一正視及一側視的花卉圖案，在繡片下方殘留有一鹿的頭部，上方有一圖案，可能是龍尾。 組織結構： a. 淡紅色羅 經線：絲，無撚，單根排列，淡紅色，密度不可測；緯線：絲，無撚，單根排列，淡紅色，密度不可測；組織：四經絞。 b. 淡紅色絹 經線：絲，無撚，單根排列，淡紅色，47根/cm；緯線：絲，無撚，單根排列，淡紅色，34根/cm；組織：1/1平紋。 刺繡： 繡線：絲，Z撚；色彩：藍、深藍、淺藍、白、黑、紅、黃、綠、紫、淺黃綠等。 針法：平針、劈針、戧針等。
