Comments:Published PDF date : Qing Qianlong 1736-1795 Room 95 label text:PDF A833Falangcai teapot painted with geese and poem Porcelain painters in the Forbidden City used falangcai to paint geese, some taking flight, on a riverbank or lake shore dotted with rocks, hibiscus, reeds and rushes. They also wrote a couplet in black enamel accompanied by three puce enamel seals. The poem reads 秋满江湖同飲啄, 風喧蘆葦自飛鳴 (qiu man jiang hu tong yin zhuo, feng xuan lu wei zi fei ming ‘Full autumn, together (the birds) drink and peck by rivers and lakes; in the wind the clamour of rushes and reeds flying around (sounds like) a bird’s cry’). The first phrase is literal and describes the group of birds and the second phrase is more oblique and reflective. The three seals read仁和 (renhe ‘humanity and peace’), 四方 (sifang ‘four directions’) and 清晏(qingyan ‘pure and bright). Like a Chinese painting, the calligraphy and painting on this teapot complement each other. Usually teapots are not decorated on the underside of the lid but when this cover is turned over, two geese appear, one swimming, the other half-submerged as if diving for food beneath the water. The base carries a four-character blue enamel Qianlong mark.Porcelain with transparent glaze made in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, overglaze enamels added in Beijing素瓷器: 江西, 景德鎮燒 製; 北京加 琺瑯彩Qing dynasty, blue enamel Qianlong mark and period, AD1736–95 PDF A833琺瑯彩題詩蘆雁紋茶壺紫禁城內的瓷器畫師用琺琅彩畫了一群大雁,有些在飛翔,有些停棲在長滿芙蓉花、蘆葦和燈芯草的多石河岸或湖灘上。
