Description:
Porcelain teapot in form of a bamboo section. The teapot has crazed cream glaze. There is a carved and relief design of bamboo branches on one side, and an incised inscription on the other side.

The knob on the cover is modelled in the form of a dragon. The inscription reads 半竹 清茗回味時. 北岩氏作 (Ban zhu qing ming hui wei shi. Beiyanshi zuo ‘With half a bamboo [-shaped pot] of pure tea it is time to reminisce. Made by Beiyanshi’.) Beiyan (literally: ‘northern rock’) was the alias of Shen Xiangling, style name Fuxiuzi, a native of Renhe, Guangdong province. He lived during the Qianlong period and was renowned for his kaishu (regular script) calligraphy.
