Description:
Tea-caddy. Coat of arms of Laurie impaling Holme quarterly. the arms are of Laurie of Plainstone and Portsburgh in Scotland, “Per fess gules and sable a cup argent with a garland issuing from the top within a wreath of laurel all proper; crest, “The trunk of an oak sprouting out proper”; impaling the quarterly coat of Holme, “Argent a stag proper, quartering Beaufoy, “Argent on a chevron sable three crosses pattee or”, and Lamb, “Sable on a fess or between three cinquefoils argent a lion gules between two mullets of the field”. It seems possible that the service was ordered by Henry Laurie, captain of the “Surat Castle” an East Indiaman. Made of enamelled porcelain.
