Description:
‘Famille rose’ tea caddy with European coats of arms. This tea caddy, of rectangular section, has a somewhat protruding domed shoulder and a cylindrical neck; a cylindrical cover fits inside the neck and has a bud-shaped knob. Both front and reverse are painted with two coats of arms, one depicting a hunt, surrounded by plumes, with a bow on top and surmounted by a coronet. The sides show small flower sprays and the shoulder and cover shaped diaper surrounds. The bud on top is gilded.

Comments:Harrison-Hall and Krahl 1994:The arms on this piece are unidentified. The shape of this tea caddy is known from both silver and European porcelain, particularly from Germany, where the cover, however, generally fits over the neck.
