Description:
Clay funerary tablet, probably unfired. The inscription was first incised and then painted in red. The colour of the background is very faded and now appears blue.

Comments:Stein 1928, p.684: “Ast.i.6.08. Inscribed burnt clay slab from entrance to tomb. Square; face painted light blue with narrow vermilion border, and divided by nine equally spaced vertical and horizontal lines in white into hundred small compartments. In each is Chinese character painted in vermilion over white, the vermilion having in places worn off; cf. M. Maspero’s App.A. Condition generally good. 14⅞” sq., thickness 1½”. Pl.LXXV.”
