Description:
Stoneware Martaban storage jar with incised decoration and olive-green glaze. This stoneware storage jar has six lug handles, each terminating in a dragon head, attached to the neck and shoulder. It has a short tapering neck with a thickened rim and an ovoid body narrowing to a flat unglazed base. It is incised with a dramatic design of a dragon with bulging eyes, horns and scaly body beneath an olive-green streaky glaze.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:A jar of similar form with six handles and a pale cream as opposed to brown stoneware body was recovered from the wreck of the San Diego, a Spanish warship, which sank on 14 December 1600 (see BM Franks. 1579).
