Description:
Porcelain stem cup with underglaze blue decoration. The bowl of this tiny stem cup is rounded and flares outwards at the rim. It has a high splayed foot and a recessed base. Outside a repeated design of three children playing by rocks and flowers is delicately outlined in fine blue lines and infilled with blue wash around the bowl and inside a single flower head is set in a medallion. The stem is decorated with three ‘lingzhi’ sprays and the base carries a six-character Xuande reign mark in a double ring.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Such a small stem cup would have been used to serve a potent wine, possibly made from fermented rice.
