Stem porcelain cup. Underglaze blue with three scenes of immortals (Zhongli quan, Han Xiangzi and Li Tieguai) with attendants on the porcelain cup, all in rocky landscapes. Emblems separated by dots or pearls on stem. Roundel inside with scholar seated in a garden reading. Horizontal inscription inside stem.

The Eight Immortals are a combination of male and female historical and legendary figures, each identified by different costume and attributes. For example Zhong Liquan is recognised by his top knots and fan, Han Xiangzi plays a flute and Li Tieguai has a ‘grotesque’ face, walks with a crutch and carries a gourd.
