Comments:Rawson 1992:High-fired white wares associated with Buddhist ritual include flasks, censers, stands and offering bowls. Some of the finest Ding wares of the 10th century, including pieces embellished with gilding, are those found in the Jingzhi and Jingzhong pagodas of Din xian, Hebei province, indicating that white wares were highly valued among Buddhist ceremonial paraphenalia. They frequently imitate the shapes and sometimes the colour of metalwork, since comparable items in silver are well known. See also BM 1937.0716.41; BM 1936.1022.145; BM 1909.0401.76; BM 1936.1012.147, 120 and 146; BM 1931.1215.1.
