Description:
Elliptical stamp-seal made of banded chalcedony. The edges are bevelled. The intaglio design shows the bust of a male with his head turned to the right. His features are very fine, with curly hair and a pointed beard. He wears a bead earring and a drapery wound around the narrow collar of his garment.

Comments:Stein, Serindia, p. 215, pl. V: “Khot.0077. Elliptical intaglio of banded chalcedony. Male bust to L. Hair brushed from top of head forms heavy bandeau over forehead to back of neck. Features straight and fine. Long pointed beard. Drop ear-ring. Bust draped. Narrow collar, below which drapery wound round shoulders and made heavy double overfall on chest. Fine miniature work of early Persian type. 5/16 x ¼ inch. Pl.V.”
