It is said that there is a peerless beauty in Shaanxi who sells fish with a fish basket. Many men want to marry her, so the woman said that if a man can recite the “Pu Men Pin” or “Vajra Sutra” overnight, she will marry him. As a result, many people can recite it. Later, she said that if someone could recite the Fahua Sutra in three days, she would marry him. As a result, only one young man surnamed Ma could recite it. She got married as promised and died of illness soon after she entered the school. Later, people knew that this beautiful woman was the Avalokitesvara. The woman carrying the fish basket in this painting is the fish basket Guanyin, also known as Malang Fu Guanyin.
