Description:
Small porcelain snuff-bottle of guan form and domed cover with knop. There are five-clawed dragons against dense flower and leaf ground in underglaze blue, and a similar dense flower and leaf pattern on the cover, with a narrow band of ruyi heads on neck. There is an inscription on the base.

By the reign of the emperor Kangxi (AD 1662–1722), taking snuff had become an imperial habit. Chinese craftsmen revelled in the production of miniature works of art and the tiny snuff-bottle form provided a means to demonstrate their skills.
