Description:
Fragment of a wooden block seal that has broken in half. Two of the originally four Chinese characters remain, one of which is yin (印/”seal”). The seal broke along the hole that has been drilled almost completely through the object.

Comments:Stein, Serindia, pp. 599, 780, 786, 788, pl. LIII: “T.XXVIII.q. Half of wooden ink-seal; small block; L. half has split away. Face, originally prob. ½ inch sq., contained four Chin. chars. of which two remain, finely cut. Upper one not determined, lower one [yin] yin (‘seal’) [Mr L.C. Hopkins]. Seal broken along line of hole which has been drilled almost completely through lengthways. Cf. T.XXVII.15. ½ x 3/16 inch (broken) x 5/16 inch. Pl.LIII.”
