Description:
Oblong wooden block with a decoration painted in ink (?). The decoration consists of two cross-diagonals, the resulting four spaces are filled with dashes and dots. The use of this object is unclear but it was probably meant to be made into a block-seal.

Comments:Stein, Serindia, pp. 599, 777, 780, 787, pl. LIII: “T.XXVIII.k-n. Four oblong wooden blocks; each long face having cross-diagonals on it in ink, and the spaces so formed filled with dashes and dots. Possibly for making seals, the die-cutter having only roughly blocked out his design; or for dice. Cf. T.XXII.a.ii.005, XXVII.15. k and m in excellent condition, l and n worn. Length 15/16 inch to 1 1/8 inch, diam. 7/16 inch sq. to ½ inch sq. Pl.LIII.”
