Description:
Stucco head of a person with protruding eyes and down-turned mouth. The figure was modelled in a half relief and is quite flat on the reverse side. Remains of the wooden pin that was used to fasten the head to the rest of the body are still visible. Also, the remaining pigments show that the whole face was painted blue with black hair and eyebrows. This could be a representation of a Dharmapala, one of the eight protectors of the teachings of Buddha which are often depicted with blue skin and a fierce expression.
