Comments:Harrison-Hall and Krahl 1994: The coat of arms has been identified as Lawrence impaling Ilbery (Howard, 1974, p.645). This type of covered cup was used to serve custard, a dessert made from milk, eggs and sugar, or similar sweets. The shape is much rarer than tea or coffee cups and is also known in English glass and silver.
