Description:
Saucer. Coat of arms of Inglis with Johnson in pretence. The coat, “Azure, a lion rampant argent armed and lanqued gules, on a chief three estoiles of the field – a bordure gules”, is of Inglis, with in pretence “Argent on a pile azure three ounce’s heads erased or, a crescent for difference”, for Johnson of Milton Bryant; with the Inglis crest, “A demi lion rampant holding in the dexter paw an estoile or”. Hugh Inglis descended from Inglis of Crammond in Scotland, who became a director of the East India Company in 1784, married as his first wife in that year Catherine, daughter and coheir of Henry Johnson of Milton Bryant in Bedfordshire. She died in May 1792, leaving him an heir. He later inherited and lived at Milton Bryant. Made of enamelled porcelain.
