Description:
Sample: showing edging stitching. This sample is similar to As2005,0731.36 and As2005,731.35 and it demonstrates the next part of the creation process of edge stitching. On this sample; blue and green silk ribbon have been folded and alternated in two lines with white and red stitches, creating a zigzag pattern along each edge. The silks are sewn onto stiffened fabric, backed in off-white paper. Both long edges of the base fabric have been folded over to create a base for the edge stitching. The edge stitching is constructed in green, blue, pink and purple silk thread. The threads are stitched at a 45 degree angle to the flat edge and are sewn, creating a checkerboard, diamond woven effect as each thread overlaps the other and one colour merges into the next colour.
