Description:
Earthenware ‘dishui’ tile terminal with moulded decoration beneath a yellow glaze. Collected in Nanjing, this semi-circular ‘dishui’ tile terminal has a raised lobed lower edge and is decorated in relief with a moulded dragon. The sinewy five-clawed dragon is shown in profile and is looking backwards at a flaming pearl with a ‘ruyi’-style cloud scroll ahead. The long concave section of the tile is missing but would have joined at right angles to the top.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:A slightly larger complete example, also glazed yellow, was found during the Republican period at the Ming palace site, Nanjing.
