Comments:The Muban Educational Trust (MET) is a registered charity dedicated to the research, collection and promotion of Chinese woodblock print and printmaking. The annual MET woodblock printmaking award completed its third year in 2018. The award is for young printmakers of Chinese nationality who graduated from undergraduate and postgraduate printmaking courses in China. The award winners and one shortlisted artist from 2018 have offered to donate examples of their works to the British Museum. These works showcase current techniques and experimentations in woodblock printmaking in China. Zhang Qiuyuan was born in Hebei Province in 1993. She graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 2017. Her supervisors were Wang Huaxiang, Li Xiaolin, Yang Hongwei and Kong Liang. She experiments with the abstract effects created from pressure and repeated layering of colour using the traditional multi-block technique. Her works won the special prize for emerging artist in the 2018 MET woodblock printmaking award.
