Comments:The True Story of Ah Q by the revolutionary writer Lu Xun is bitterly ironic in tone. The main character Ah Q is a bully and a coward, who stands for the failures of Chinese society. He mindlessly follows others in his existence of misery, defiance and self-praise, until he finally brings about his own execution. Zhao created a series of 60 prints that illustrate the story, and are considered his masterpieces.Zhao uses ink mass in a way that recalls European and expressionist art. He creates strong contrasts with ‘black against white’ and ‘white against black’ that focus attention on his anti-hero.This print is in set with 1993,0707,0.30 and 1993,0707,0.42
