Comments:The decorative curios and scholarly items in the print were all desirable objects for collectors and bibliophiles, some of which bear an auspicious meaning. During the Ming dynasty there was an expansion of urban populations, an increase in literacy and a growth of the merchant class with access to education and positions at court.
