Comments:The leaping carp is an image for a young man aiming to pass the civil service examinations in order to pursue the career of an official. Many prints of this size and quality were produced in Suzhou. The impression shows no signs of joined blocks and was presumably made with woodblocks, both for black outline and for colour, in the size of the sheet.
