Description:
Woodblock print on paper. The scroll depicts four ladies and 16 boys playing in the snow in the garden of a mansion. In the foreground, a boy flies a kite, another one holds a pole with a carp. Behind them, a boy is setting off firecrackers, another beats a chime and a third rides a toy horse.

Comments:This print is the right hand of a pair, making a continuous scene of a New Year’s eve. Recent research has led to the discovery of its counterpart in a Japanese collection. The Japanese blue paper mount of this print indicates that it was originally collected in Japan. Most prints of this kind are today preserved in Japan.
