Plates XVIII, XIX and XX composing one scene: imperial procession led by valets bearing ornate lanterns, parasols and standards, followed by mounted armed guards and horsemen leading finely caparisoned horses, officers and pages (including two holding cassolettes in the shape of censers) and the bearers of the imperial palanquin; also present are mandarins, men of letters and lords; behind the palanquin more guards and officers, a group of men bearing the ‘country’ litter and finally valets and grooms, some leading unmounted horses; a crowd watches the procession, some people kneeling, including the Empress (mother of the Emperor) and her retinue, next to her litter; streets decorated. 1786 Etching and engraving on three sheets conjoined
